There is good news for Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as it is claimed by Football 411 that Arsenal could be the preferred target for Victor Wanyama.
The young player has been instrumental for Celtic this term and in no small part played a massive role in getting the club to the Champions League knockout stages. The 21-year-old has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and now it seems that Arsenal – one of the clubs who have shown a strong interest in him – are the player’s preferred club.
The starlets former manager Jean–Marie Abeels noted that: “Victor’s father Noah calls me almost every week and he tells me Arsenal’s interest is big.
“Wenger spoke to Celtic around a month ago and Victor’s father and his mother Mildred says he would prefer to go there before any other club.
“I will be speaking to his parents again in a week’s time and Victor also. But I already know that Arsenal have a big interest in the player.”
This will come as welcome news for Wenger who of course is currently debating over the price of Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic while considering moves for a host of other targets including QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar.
Will Wanyama become a Gunner and shore up their midfield? Let us know your thoughts below.
