The Daily Telegraph had Manchester United fans temporarily looking hopeful here in the Football Transfer Tavern after they claimed that Louis van Gaal offered Arjen Robben a place at Old Trafford.
The publication seem to think that after linking up so well together during the World Cup, Dutch star Robben impressed his former manager enough to be offered a move to Manchester United, where van Gaal is of course set to take over as manager.
Robben was asked about the possibility of a move to the Red Devils and while ruling out a switch to Old Trafford, he was full of praise for van Gaal however.
He claimed: “I have a special bond with him.
“He is the most important coach in my career. After the match he did ask me to come to Manchester.”
However, before Manchester United fans get too excited, he also made it clear that his future lies in Germany with Bayern Munich, adding: “It is not an option. I will stay at Bayern Munich.”
Manchester United fans. Would you like to see Robben next season or is 30 too old to be investing such a high amount on a player? Let us know your thoughts below.
