The resident Lilywhites in the Transfer Tavern are feeling downbeat after their side’s early-season slump…
Tottenham Hotspur may have topped a daunting group of death in the Champions League knockout stages with a game to spare, but their Premier League form has left plenty to be desired so far this campaign. Mauricio Pochettino is going through his worst spell of form as Spurs manager, and his side’s response in the next few weeks will be highly indicative of his character and managerial ability.
Tottenham’s performances in recent weeks have lacked the zip and quick-tempo that have previously characterised their game in the past two seasons, as the likes of Alli and Eriksen have struggled to make an impact.
An injection of creativity could be exactly what Tottenham need to kick-start their flailing season, and according to The Mirror, they could be set just that in January with the arrival of Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid.
The same report claims that Spurs face competition from their North-London rivals Arsenal for his signature, but they must fight off interest from The Gunners to secure a huge signing for the club.
Ceballos has endured a difficult beginning to life at Los Blancos with only 2 La Liga starts to his name so far.
But aged just 21, Ceballos has a very bright future ahead of him, and given the right opportunities, he could become Tottenham’s next Luka Modric.
Tottenham are crying out for someone to take the pressure off Eriksen and provide a creative spark in the centre of midfield that has been missing from their performances of late.
Ceballos certainly fits the bill, and Pochettino should pursue his signature in January to build for the future with the injection of a creative playmaker.
