‘Totally deluded’, ‘Overrated’ – Tottenham fans slam Liverpool star’s post-match comments on Twitter

The Tottenham Hotpsur fans were feeling bittersweet in the Transfer Tavern yesterday following their 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur came away from Anfield with a point yesterday evening after one of the most dramatic encounters of the season so far. Mo Salah put Liverpool into a 3rd minute lead following a mistake from Eric Dier, and The Reds maintained their slender advantage for the majority of the match, but their resistance was finally broken in the 80th minute as Victor Wanyama unleashed a thunderbolt from the blue to grab Tottenham a deserved equaliser.

Wanyama’s strike set up a grandstand finish which featured 2 more goals and plenty of refereeing controversy. Within the final ten minutes Tottenham were awarded 2 penalties after John Moss adjudged both Harry Kane and Erik Lamela to be fouled by Lorius Karius and Virgil Van Dijk respectively.

In the first instance, Kane was fouled and missed the resulting penalty, but he made no mistake with his 95th minute strike from the spot which arrived just moments after Mo Salah appeared to have snatched all three points for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Liverpool were furious with the penalty decisions, and their record-breaking January signing Van Dijk brandished both Lamela and Kane as cheats in the aftermath of proceedings.

The Tottenham supporters jumped to the defence of their stars in response to Van Dijk’s comments and took the opportunity to slate him for his performance.

A handful of supporters also urged the FA to take retrospective against the Dutch international for making such bold accusations against Tottenham’s players.

Here’s what the Lilywhites faithful had to say about Van Dijk on Twitter following his post-match comments…
