Tottenham and Man Utd are reportedly amongst the clubs interested in talented midfielder

The fans in the Transfer Tavern are always on the lookout for the next best thing in English football…

The English Football League is a hotbed of young talent, with hundreds of young players just waiting to be discovered, and it appears as though the likes of Man Utd and Tottenham are eyeing up one such young star.

According to the Daily Mail, Man Utd and Tottenham are amongst the clubs interested in young Bolton midfielder Max Broughton. Southampton and Everton are also said to be interested.

Though not a household name in the Transfer Tavern, Broughton has been steadily progressing in recent years. He is a regular within the Bolton developmental system, whilst the England youth teams have also come calling as of late.

Tottenham have enjoyed a lot of success by signing young, talented English players as of late, with Mauricio Pochettino regularly opting to give them a chance at the highest level. Both Dele Alli and Eric Dier have made a name for themselves under the Argentine, whilst more recently Harry Winks has emerged as a top young talent. This may well appeal to Broughton.

Man Utd, meanwhile, have a rich history of developing young talent – with Marcus Rashford the latest young star to emerge under Louis van Gaal and now Jose Mourinho. Mourinho’s typical lack of attention to young players will certainly give the youngster cause for concern, though.

Whatever the case, it looks like a host of teams are vying for the youngster’s signature, and whilst a move may well be some way off, Broughton clearly has a bright future. A host of players have made the step up from the lower leagues and made an impact in the Premier League, most notably Rob Holding at Arsenal, and so this is certainly a story worth keeping an eye on.
