The Daily Star report that Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis has sparked rumours of a Premier League switch after he revealed that he has no intention of signing a new contract with the Ligue 1 club.
Both Newcastle United and Tottenham are thought to be considering the French international, whose current deal with Lyon expires at the end of the season.
The powerful forward almost joined the Magpies during the summer transfer window, but the proposed transfer fell through due to complications over paperwork.
However Alan Pardew is understood to like the striker’s explosive play and could move again for the player, who has confirmed he is taking English lessons.
The 28-year-old has now told French agencies that is yet to decide on his future, which the paper believes could see him making the move to the Premier League.
Gomis said: “I play with the mind of a player who loves his club and respects his contract, I am very proud to be part of Lyon and I have not signed any agreement with any club yet.”
Gomis would be a bargain option for any interested parties as he would be able to sign on a free transfer, and his agent, Francesco Di Frisco, has has been very clear on where he wants his client to move.
Di Frisco said: “He is rather heading to the Premier League. We are in negotiations with several clubs.
“His €2.5m salary demands offer English clubs a big advantage.”
