Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton fans are left feeling a bit frustrated after reports have emerged suggesting that they are likely to miss out on one of their mutual targets in the January transfer window.
According to the Express, Spurs and Saints have both been keeping a close eye on Palermo playmaker Franco Vasquez but the deals are set to be rocked as Palermo have ruled out the exit of the midfield star.
The Argentine-Italian born attacking midfielder is also on the radar for Serie A rivals, Juventus but outspoken Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has warned all potential buyers that there is no way that Vasquez will be sold any time soon, regardless of the price. An official club statement read:
“As president Maurizio Zamparini has said in recent weeks, the player Franco Vazquez is not for sale. There have not been, nor will there be, any negotiations with Juventus or any other clubs for the sale of the player, who will be one of the cornerstones of Palermo for 2015/16.”
Vasquez has been a regular started for Palermo so far this campaign, making 12 appearances and scoring one goal for the Serie A side.
Spurs and Saints fans, how big a signing would Vasquez have been if he joined the Premier League and which team would he have been more suitable for.
