A player that won’t be making the move to the Premier League this summer is Montpellier playmaker Younes Belhanda who has agreed to sign for Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev despite reported interest from Tottenham, Arsenal and Aston Villa.
The news from Sky Sports has been greeted with disappointment in the Football Transfer Tavern with punters wanting to see the talented 23-year-old Moroccan international strutting his stuff in the English top flight.
His creativity on the ball was a major feature in the French side’s surprise Ligue 1 title triumph of 2011/12 and although he had a slightly less impressive time last season, where he scored 13 times in 38 appearances, it was still thought that he would join a Premier League side in the near future.
Aston Villa were understood to be leading the race but Spurs and Arsenal both held long-term interest in the player with Andre Villas-Boas a particular admirer of the cultured midfield man.
Instead Belhanda has decided to sign for Ukrainian giants Kiev and will wear the number 90 shirt – to signal the year of his birth – at his new club. Dynamo presented Belhanda alongside new signings Dieumerci Mbokani and Jeremain Lens who joined from Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven respectively.
Arsenal, Tottenham and Villa fans. Are you that gutted to have missed out on Belhanda? Let us know your thoughts below.
