Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are still gutted after Mario Balotelli’s late goal last night but they muster the strength to read in the Daily Mirror that Mauricio Pochettino is keeping tabs on Argentine youngster Emanuel Mammana.
The 19-year-old central defender currently plays for River Plate and could be on his way to White Hart Lane next summer as Spurs scouts have brought back positive reports to Pochettino.
He has also impressed with Argentina at the Under-20 South American championships in Uruguay.
As well as standing out in the Under-20 ranks, Mammana boasts one senior international cap, making his debut in a 2-0 win over Slovenia in June 2014.
Spurs will face stiff competition for Mammana’s signature from Atletico Madrid with national icon and Los Colchoneros manager Diego Simeone being a huge fan.
The North London club – who of course currently boast Erik Lamela and Federico Fazio – seem to be on the back foot in this transfer race as Simeone’s son plays with Mammana at River Plate and with the national squad.
Tottenham fans. Do you think Daniel Levy’s know-how in the transfer market will be enough to beat Atletico Madrid to the 19-year-old? Let us know your thoughts below.
