The talk in the Football Transfer Tavern today surrounds Andre Villas-Boas emerging as one of the favourites to take over at Barcelona following Tito Vilanova’s resignation, but the Tottenham boss has dismissed that talk, as reported by Sky Sports.
Vilanova was forced to step down at the Catalan club following a brave battle with cancer over the past year and Villas-Boas agrees that the 44-year-old’s health is the most important thing.
The Tottenham manager refused to speak about his interest in the vacant job that would surely be too hard for any boss in world football to turn down right now.
Villas-Boas sent his well wishes to Vilanova after Tottenham’s poor goalless draw with Colchester United recently.
“It’s a difficult situation,” Villas-Boas said.
“At this time, all my wishes are with Tito. If he has to resign over illness, it’s not the time to speak about speculation.
“We’re speaking about a person’s health, it’s not even a question.”
