Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern were left stunned as they entered the bar this morning, after seeing pictures which raised speculation they could lose their highly-rated manager.
The Mirror has published images which show Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino meeting with former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson in London, where the Argentine’s agent was also in attendance.
Pochettino has become one of the most sought after managers in Europe after his superb impact at White Hart Lane, where he has developed Spurs’ young squad into title contenders and Champions League hopefuls.
A return to Europe’s elite competition has already been secured and if the Lilywhites beat Newcastle United this weekend, they will cement a finish above north London rivals Arsenal for the first time in two decades.
Whilst the club seem relaxed about the meeting, fans will naturally be concerned about comments Ferguson made regarding Pochettino back in March.
“The manager [Pochettino] has been fantastic. They have a bad record of managers, there is no doubt about that. They have had so many over the years, but this lad has composure.”
“You never see him ruffled and the way his team play is a testimony to the work he is doing.”
Whilst our landlord feels Pochettino is going nowhere this summer, he does believe the Argentine’s services will be snatched by a bigger club in the coming years.
