This is after our landlord reads out the latest claim from the Daily Star, who claim that Tim Sherwood has told several of his Tottenham Hotspur players that they are fighting for their futures at the club.
As one of our punters comes over to the bar to order another round of drinks, he notes that after the absolute demolition by London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Sherwood is well within his rights to tell his players to shape up or else they’ll be shipped out.
At the start of the season, Spurs of course held delusions of being title contenders, and now the top four is seemingly beyond the realms of possibility, this has left Spurs fans disappointed yet again and players struggling to perform on the field.
After the departure of Andre Villas-Boas, the club temporarily looked like being on the road to recovery, but after the latest outburst from their manager, that looks short lived.
Sherwood claimed ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League tie against Benfica: “A lot of players here are playing for their future and I think they realise that now.
“I’m going to have a good look at the whole squad and see who I need to keep and who I need to bring in.
“They have that chance between now and the end of the season to prove they want to play for a giant club like Tottenham.
“I’m never going to take a step back. I’m just going to shoot from the hip. That’s what I’m like.”
Which players are destined for the Spurs transfer scrapheap that Sherwood seems to be alluding to? Let us know your thoughts below.
