Metro seem to be all about Tottenham today here in the Football Transfer Tavern and their latest claim is no exception.
The publication report that despite massive speculation over the future of star Welshman Gareth Bale, manager Andre Villas-Boas is determined to improve the squad this summer and finally crack those top four places and get Champions League football.
After seeing players such as Brazilian international Paulinho and also Nacer Chadli agree deals with the North London side, AVB is not resting on his laurels and has been linked with a big money move for Valencia’s Roberto Soldado amongst others – and the club are closing in on an £18 million move for the forward.
The manager was quizzed about the rest of the transfer window and his plans, noting that: “We will continue to do our market and we have not stopped yet, for sure.”
He also spoke about his latest signing Nacer Chadli and noted how pleased he was to have landed the player stating: “Chadli’s a player we’ve been following for quite some time and we managed to strike a deal in the last few days.
“He’s a player who is extremely versatile and can play in several positions up front.
“We look forward to having him on board with us.”
Of course it has not been all roses for the club this summer and they suffered a huge blow when Christian Benteke decided to pen a contract extension at Aston Villa yet AVB is not deterred and will not let the sides around him buy star names whilst Spurs wait in the wings.
Will Tottenham snap up Soldado and build on an impressive summer in the transfer market? Let us know your thoughts below.
