The international break is failing to inspire anybody to get excited so in instead fans are keeping tabs on transfer rumours.
According to the Daily Star, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino still wants to bring Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin to White Hart Lane despite missing out on him this summer.
But reports now suggest that the Argentine manager may face a fight for his services after Real Madrid entered the race to sign the 28-year-old.
The Colombian midfielder was linked with a move to White Hart Lane all summer and a swap deal involving Roberto Soldado was even sounded out.
However, a deal never came to fruition and it is believed that Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid have now entered the race for the midfielder who has also caught the attention of Juventus and Valencia.
However, Inter Milan boss Walter Mazzarri insists the player has no intentions of leaving the San Siro.
Mazzarri said: “He’s always wanted to stay at Inter. He was on the market because of management choices. But I’m convinced he is very happy to have remained here and we’re very happy to have him.”
But rumours suggest that the Italian club are still weighing up a move for Fabio Borini who was linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer.
And it is thought that the Serie A outfit would be prepared to sell Guarin in January to fund a move for the attacker.
