Tottenham fans are struggling to think of a busier and more productive summer in the transfer market as the White Hart Lane side have spent nearly £60 million on some of the finest talent across Europe.
However it appears that Andre Villas-Boas’ spending has not finished yet with a fifth arrival expected as The Express reports that Spurs have agreed a deal for Steaua Bucharest defender Vlad Chiriches that will see the Romanian international join up with Villas-Boas’ squad at the end of the month.
Reports emerging from Romania suggest that controversial Steaua chairman Gigi Becali, who is currently in prison, has now accepted that the 23-year-old’s departure is inevitable and will now allow the classy centre back to join Spurs on August 29th after he features in the club’s Champions League qualifying play off second leg against Legia Warsaw.
Earlier reports had indicated that a possible deal for the 23-year-old, who impressed for Steaua during the Europa League run last season, was off when Becali called a halt on the deal but now Tottenham will pay £8.5 million for the defender with half paid up front and the rest next summer as he decided to cash in on his his talented defender.
Serie A sides Roma and AC Milan have also shown interested in the centre back but now it looks like Andre Villas-Boas will add him to his new look squad as he looks to bolster his defence following the departures of Steven Caulker and William Gallas this summer.
