The Daily Mail have provided Tottenham fans with a good start to their weekend here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that the club have agreed a fee for top target Paulinho.
Andre Villas-Boas has been keen to add to his squad all summer and has chosen Paulinho to become his first signing. As one of our punters quips, there has been plenty of talk about Paulinho in the tavern of late and we seem to know all there is about him.
Spurs fans will of course know that a host of top clubs including Inter Milan and Roma were also thought to be interested in the player and it even emerged that Real Madrid were considering making a late bid for the player who will cost just over half the amount Fernandinho did for Premier League rivals Manchester City and is ahead of him in the national team – leaving Spurs confident they got the better player and for much less to boot.
The Brazilian has been capped 15 times for his country and is currently on duty at the Confederations Cup. Tottenham were trying to hold out and get the player for £15 million yet with such interest in him, they have decided to strike now and pay the buyout clause of £17 million.
