Tottenham close in on second summer capture

chadli.jpgHere in the Football Transfer Tavern we are waiting to see what Tottenham’s next move in the summer transfer window will bring and Matt Barlow from Mail Online give us some indication as he reports that the club are close to bringing Belgian international winger Nacer Chadli from FC Twente to White Hart Lane.

The Premier League side have currently only offered £6 million despite the Dutch outfit demanding £7.75 million but the clubs are now expected to reach a compromise on the final transfer fee.

Chadli has the ability to play on either flank and it is this versatility which will have appeal to manager Andre Villas-Boas as he looks to add some further width to the side that missed out to arch-rivals Arsenal for that final Champions League qualification place last season.

Spurs may have to fend off competition from Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Swansea City for the one-time Moroccan international whom he played for before deciding to represent his country of birth, Belgium.

The 23-year-old could now join the Belgian contingent already at White Hart Lane in defender Jan Vertonghen and midfielder Mousa Dembele while Aston Villa striker and international team-mate Christian Benteke is also on Villas-Boas’ radar this summer.

Will Chadli become Tottenham’s second signing of the summer transfer window? Rate this rumour below.
