Jamie Sanderson from Metro has entered the Football Transfer Tavern this afternoon with breaking news that Real Madrid are finally set to sign Gareth Bale after making an improved £93 million bid plus Fabio Coentrao offer.
The Spanish side, who have been chasing Bale for the entire summer, were knocked back in July with a £85 million offer and that had led to suggestions that Carlo Ancelotti had shifted targets with the former Chelsea boss admitting he believed the deal to be dead.
However an improved offer submitted last night appears to have won over Spurs chief Daniel Levy with highly rated attacking full back Fabio Coentrao thrown in as part of the deal.
The Portuguese international would mark a top class acquisition for Spurs with Chelsea also reportedly looking at a move for the 25-year-old with Jose Mourinho eyeing a reunion at Stamford Bridge. Coentrao would certainly be interested in a move to the Premier League and reportedly feels like his time in Madrid is reaching an end.
Spurs have already started spending the world record fee with a reported £60 million deal in place to bring Anzhi Makhachkala’s Willian and Roma’s Erik Lamela to the club and the way is now paved for Bale to finally complete his dream move to Madrid.
Should Spurs accept the world record offer from Madrid? Are the trio of Willian, Lamela and Coentrao suitable acquisitions? Let us know your thoughts below.
