Tottenham ‘close’ to completing major signing on three-year deal

pochettino9Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have their fingers crossed that an important figure will be tied down ahead of this summer, with a bottle of bubbly reserved in case things do go their way.

It’s certainly looking promising, as The Sun report manager Mauricio Pochettino is close to signing a three-year extension with the north London side that will see the Argentine boss commit himself to the club.

Pochettino has excelled with Spurs and his impressive displays, which have led the club to a shock Premier League title push and in-line for a return to Champions League football, have attracted some of the bigger sides in the division.

With Chelsea and Manchester United yet to officially appoint their next bosses, despite tonnes of speculation, the risk has been floating around that the South American could be snatched by one of Spurs’ rivals.

However, such a move now seems unlikely as Pochettino will commit to three years with Tottenham- earning himself a tasty £4.5m-a-year, with a pay jump of £1m.

Our landlord believes this is a crucial deal for Spurs to get over the line and he’s urged them to make sure that happens.

Spurs fans, can Pochettino lead you to your first league title since 1962? Let us know in the comments below!
