The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for Mauricio Pochettino to continue signing young players. The Argentine manager has had incredible success in that vein since moving to White Hart Lane, with young stars like Dele Alli and Harry Kane really coming on leaps and bounds under the manager.

It’s been a remarkable spell for the Lilywhites, both on the field and off of it, and it appears as though their success with regards to youth development could lead them to even more joy. According to the Telegraph, Tottenham are said to be confident that their focus on the progression of young players in recent years could give them the upper hand in their pursuit for one of Europe’s hottest young talents.

Matt Law of the Telegraph writes that Tottenham are keen on Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon, viewing him as the perfect replacement for Danny Rose, and though top sides like Liverpool and Chelsea are also said to be in the race, the Lilywhites are hopeful that they could have the edge.

That’s certainly a reasonable assertation for the club to make, with a player likely to be attracted the club in which he will achieve the most success. Objectively, over the last few years, no other top Premier League side has achieved¬†that much enjoyment in that regard than Tottenham.

Still, the prospect of higher wages and more trophies could make other teams an attractive proposition, and so this is far from a foregone conclusion.

Landlord’s Verdict

Sessegnon is one of the best young players in the football league. Despite still being a teenager, he has been sensational in the Championship so far, and a big money move is surely on the cards at some point in the future.

He’d likely struggle to get into the team of most of the Premier League’s top sides, but Mauricio Pochettino has proven in recent years that he isn’t afraid to give youngsters a chance.

If game time is what he wants, Tottenham would be the best bet for his future.
