A Tottenham supporter has just arrived in the Football Transfer Tavern sporting last year’s shirt while unfortunately wearing the name of Bale on his back!
That has led to some ribbing from Arsenal fans sat at the bar as they ask him and other Spurs fans ‘where’s your Bale gone’.
However, Spurs could be looking to sign another promising talent with Italian newspaper Tutto Mercato suggesting that Andre Villas-Boas is chasing highly rated Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
The 18-year-old French Under-21 international has impressed since emerging from the youth ranks at the Parc Des Princes but could see his progress hampered by the high profile talents in the first team at the Ligue 1 champions, of course following on from their significant cash injection.
Rabiot is regarded as a dynamic midfielder who likes a tough tackle as well as getting forward and one punter points out that Tottenham probably don’t need any more central midfield options right now.
Villas-Boas successfully offloaded utility midfielders Tom Huddlestone, Scott Parker and Clint Dempsey during the summer but has replaced them with top class arrivals in Paulinho and Etienne Capoue which would make it hard to see where Rabiot would fit in at the White Hart Lane club.
Rabiot has not started a Ligue 1 game for Laurent Blanc’s team this season and despite his strong reputation, the starlet has only made two senior appearances for the French side which could see him departing when the January transfer window opens.
Alternatively, PSG could loan Rabiot once more following a temporary spell at fellow Ligue 1 side Toulouse last term.
Will Tottenham follow up their interest in the French Under-21 star with an official bid? Let us know your thoughts below.
