Tottenham could yet make another move for in-demand £15.3m-rated attacker – report

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are concerned about their side’s lack of business so far this month. Whilst Premier League rivals like Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have brought in new faces, the Lilywhites have remained comparatively quiet.

However, that doesn’t mean that Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy aren’t planning things. In fact, according to UOL Esporte, they could be preparing a move for one of Europe’s most in-demand players.

UOL Esporte is reporting that Tottenham are keen on Brazilian attacker Malcom, who is attracting the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd and Bayern Munich. Significantly, they were apparently keen on him last year, having a bid rejected for him – yet their interest has not dissipated. Tottenham have reportedly set up a meeting to discuss a potential transfer next week, with Mauricio Pochettino seemingly still keen to land him.

That’s certainly a very interesting prospect for Tottenham. Though Harry Kane has been on fire this season, the likes of Dele Alli and even Christian Eriksen have been below their best, and a bit more depth and quality in the attack could serve a multitude of purposes. Not only would he add more quality to Pochettino’s team, but his arrival would no doubt force others to kick on – making a move a win/win.

However, there is a problem for the Lilywhites. UOL Esport notes that Arsenal are leading the race at present, with Tottenham still playing catch up. A move is far from dead, but there will be a lot of emphasis on this supposed meeting next week if Spurs are to have any chance of winning the race.

Landlord’s Verdict

Rated at £15.3 million by Transfer Markt, Malcom would be a great fit at Tottenham. He’s quick, talented, technical, and he’s also – crucially – just 20-years-old.

That could be key if Tottenham are to have any chance of landing him, they could look to utilise Pochettino’s success with young players by convincing him that Wembley is the perfect home for him.

Tottenham will need to move quickly, as a move for an attacking midfielder makes a lot of sense. They must improve this month.
