Tottenham: Daniel Levy must focus on keeping Pochettino before Eriksen talks

There’s been loads of talk about whether Christian Eriksen will stay at Spurs next season, but it’s Mauricio Pochettino the club need to keep happy, above anyone else.

Tuttomercatoweb (via SportsMole) have reported the Argentine has been in talks with Juventus for weeks, and if that’s true then there should be mass panic in Daniel Levy’s office. Without him then Spurs would drop back into mediocrity at the worst time possible.

A new stadium, a new mentality and hopefully a fresh transfer strategy as they look to strengthen this summer. But a new manager would spell disaster. Pochettino has continued to defy expectations since joining from Southampton and the players adore him.

If he leaves, the likes of Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen may start to believe the club’s peak was this season’s Champions League final and that they’ll need to move elsewhere to experience that each season. Indeed, they wouldn’t be wrong to think that.

That’s why Levy needs to concentrate on doing everything he can to tie down his manager before thinking about Eriksen. There are players in the world better than Eriksen, but where are the managers available at the moment better than Pochettino?

There are very few and those who are surely wouldn’t give Spurs a second glance.

If he stays, it’ll keep the top players at the club and continue to drive Spurs towards challenging on all four fronts. If he leaves, just at the time when it looked like the club was about to take off, it could all crash to the ground.

Spurs fans, what do you think it’ll take to keep Mauricio Pochettino at the club? Join the discussion by commenting below.
