Here in the Football Transfer Tavern the Daily Mail have a rather interesting story for us as they claim David Villa has rejected a move to the Premier League.
The forward has not only been a target of Arsenal but was also seriously interesting Tottenham and manager Andre Villas-Boas yet now has decided that a move to the Premier Legaue was not for him and has chosen to join Spanish side Atletico Madrid instead.
The Spanish international forward has a huge amount of talent and that is something that has never been in question during his time at Barcelona, yet first team chances never really fell for him during the latter stages of his Camp Nou spell and with the 2014 World Cup edging ever closer, a move was a must.
The former Valencia man has taken a pay cut to join the side who of course were frantically looking to replace departed star man Radamel Falcao and Villa is keen to get back to doing what he does best – scoring.
This of course leaves AVB with a striker headache and another forward to find with many of our punters in the tavern thinking the Lilywhites will now turn their attentions to Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, who coincidently handed in a transfer request at Villa Park recently.
Tottenham fans. How disappointed are you to have missed out on Villa? Who do you feel the club will move for now?
