We all agree at the Football Transfer Tavern that Tottenham’s January business will be interesting, and Paul Kelso of The Telegraph has some inside information on who may be making a move to White Hart Lane in the near future.
Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen has been linked with a move to the Premier League for quite some time, and Tottenham are reportedly the favourites to sign him should he become available this January transfer window or in the future.
Spurs dealt with Ajax in the summer over the signing of Jan Vertonghen, and the Belgian has nothing but high praise for his former team mate, who he hopes will join him at White Hart Lane in the future.
“Technically he’s one of the best players I’ve played with. He’s left and right footed. He’s always fit. Since he was 17-18 he’s played every game for Ajax and has never been injured.
“When he gains a little more physical strength he can play in every team. I don’t want to talk for him but he’s a good player and I think a good player can play here.”
Eriksen has accumulated 30 caps for the Denmark senior international team, scoring twice and forged a part of the squads that competed at both the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012. Ajax have had to sell prized assets in recent seasons such as Thomas Vermaelen and Jan Vertonghen and it is widely anticipated that Eriksen is the next big star to quit Amsterdam in a bid to further his development.
