Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have struggled to hide their disappointment after it was revealed that they’ve dropped interest in a quality target, paving the way for a Premier League rival to complete a deal.
The Daily Mail states Tottenham Hotspur have ended their interest in Fulham’s teenage striker Moussa Dembele, who was a guest of Chelsea’s over the weekend to watch the Blues’ 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Dembele, just 19-years-old, has scored 16 goals for Fulham this season but is likely to leave the west London side in the summer as his contract draws to a close.
The news of Tottenham’s change in stance comes as a surprise as they’ve held long-term interest in the player, stemming back to before the mid-season transfer window, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side will target Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi and West Brom’s Saido Berahino instead.
Spurs are looking for a quality strike partner to play alongside star-man Harry Kane, who currently carries the burden of the entire attack, so a more experienced player makes sense for many, although our landlord feels Spurs will live to regret not continuing their pursuit in Dembele.
Spurs fans, which of these three strikers do you want? Let us know in the comments below!
