The Tottenham fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are rather calm despite their lack of activity in the window so far, with Kyle Walker having left for Manchester City and no new arrivals in north London as of yet.
Our resident Spurs fans are calm given that their recent success has mainly been built on Mauricio Pochettino’s development of what he’s already got rather than making wholesale additions in the transfer market.
One such example of knee-jerk decisions in the window having a detrimental effect on the side is Spurs’ acquisition of Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle last summer for £30m.
The French international, who shone at Euro 2016 a year ago, has far from lived up to his price tag and looks as if he could be on the way this summer.
The 27-year-old is being linked with a move away from the Premier League runners-up, with a move to his home country and Marseille being mooted.
With that in mind, the club may have dropped a hint over his future as they announced their squad for a pre-season of the United States, with the midfielder’s name nowhere to be seen.
While the official club line is that Sissoko is suffering from a virus the punters in the Tavern are far too canny to simply assume the winger has come down with a convenient cold.
Spurs fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think there is any place for the Frenchman at the club this season? Let us know…
