Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern share mixed views on the news from The Express who explain that Mauricio Pochettino plans to sell two first team strikers to raise funds for Porto’s Jackson Martinez.
The Argentine tactician is contemplating offloading Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor to help raise the £40 million they need to sign Porto’s prolific hitman.
It is clear that Pochettino is desperate for a potent forward after having to put his faith in youngster Harry Kane who has repaid his managers’ trust, netting 11 goals for the Lilywhites this season in all competitions.
If Spurs can conjure up enough cash then they should have a good chance of landing Martinez despite Arsenal and Liverpool also being interested in the Colombian international.
But it is a big risk to lose two of three recognised strikers as it is possible that they may miss out on Martinez and only be left with Harry Kane as a senior striking option.
This possible outcome may put doubt and hesitation into Daniel Levy’s mind because Spurs would either be pushed into panic buying or the loan market which is not ideal at a crucial stage of the season.
