There’s a lot of Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are still crying over the loss of Jermain Defoe.
I’m not sure why though; he hasn’t even set North America alight, so it’s doubtful he’d have done much in the Premier League this season.
He needs replacing nonetheless and according to The Express, Daniel Levy and co have targeted a talented young Spaniard to fill the gap.
Alvaro Morata, who currently plays for Real Madrid having come through the ranks at the Bernabeu, could be set for a move to the Premier League.
Tottenham have a fight on their hands with Arsenal also interested in the 21-year-old but reports in Spain suggest Spurs have edged ahead.
But Real Madrid are in no hurry to sell insisting that he is perfect cover for current striker Karim Benzema who scored 17 goals this season.
But Tottenham would be interested in taking the youngster on loan for a fee if it would help get their man.
However Real Madrid still haven’t give up their attempts to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and could still nab Morata on a permanent deal should Suarez leave Anfield.
