Tottenham’s transfer policy, or lack thereof, has been one of the talking points of the season so far.
Some were critical of the club’s approach, some leapt to Daniel Levy’s defence. However, the increasing rumours that Spurs are going to go on a spending spree in the next transfer window is a suggestion that the club regret their summer inactivity and are seeking to rectify that mistake.
With that in mind, Leicester full-back Ben Chilwell has caught a lot of eyes so far this season, particularly Gareth Southgate’s, who gave him his first England cap. But it was after the left-back’s performance against Arsenal recently where Tottenham fans took to Twitter to sing his praises. One of our regulars looked through Twitter to see what the fans were saying, and they clearly want Chilwell to play under Mauricio Pochettino.
The fans may have spotted one of the best signings that Tottenham could make. The 21-year-old is extremely comfortably going forward, and therefore looks to be in the mould of the kind of full-backs that Pochettino loves. Furthermore, there is a constant cloud over Danny Rose’s future, meaning the club may be without his services soon. Should Rose go, Chilwell would be the perfect replacement for the present and the future.
This would also be handy given the question marks over Ben Davies’ form this season, and whether fans truly see him as the ideal left-back for The Lilywhites.
Regardless of what players are, or are not, at Tottenham, Chilwell would be a brilliant signing and would be a step in the right direction after the club’s infamous summer.
