Tottenham: Fans beg Toby Alderweireld to sign new deal after tweet

Many Tottenham fans have begged Toby Alderweireld to stay after his latest appearance versus Southampton on the weekend.

Will this be Mauricio Pochettino's last season at Tottenham?

No

Spurs ran away 2-1 winners at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium despite going down to 10 men after just the first half an hour.

Tanguy Ndombele opened the scoring for the home side after just 23 minutes, before the game swung back into the balance after Serge Aurier committed his second yellow card offence for bringing down Ryan Bertrand just after 30 minutes.

Things went from bad to worse for last year’s Champions League finalists after a howler from Hugo Lloris led to Danny Ings nicking the ball from the goalkeeper and scoring the equaliser.

Thankfully for Spurs, Harry Kane was able to finish off a well-rounded move with a superb finish just before half-time, and they were able to go into the break in the lead.

What followed was a gritty second-half display from the home side who managed to hold onto victory.

After the game, Toby Alderweireld tweeted saying that they battled well as a side, to which fans responded with positive messages and plenty asking him to sign a new deal.
