The World Cup is always an interesting time for football clubs. Some players light up the tournament and cement themselves a place in the first-team at club level or grab themselves a big money move to another team. In this case, it’s Kieran Trippier who will definitely be starting over Serge Aurier this summer.

Aurier joined Spurs last summer when Kyle Walker departed the club to join Manchester City for £50 million and the Ivorian was thought to be the starting right-back for the season. However, the ex-PSG man’s rashness and ability to give away cheap penalties saw him fall out of favour with the Spurs fans. However, waiting in the wings when Aurier was suspended or dropped was Kieran Trippier.
Trippier is ever reliable for the Lillywhites and pitched in with five assists in the Premier League for the club. During his World Cup campaign with England, the right-back was incredible. He scored a stunning free-kick to open the scoring for The Three Lions in the semi-final against Croatia and went home with his head held high after impressing everyone with his set-pieces in Russia.
You can read the fans thoughts on Aurier’s comments here:
Hopefully it makes him perform to top levels with the competition with tripps now

Are you crazy! Trippier has a great World Cup and you shouldn’t even be a backup

If he gets discipline sorted I think he’s as good as trippier

Start by learning how to take a throw in

As you can see, the Spurs fans don’t think Aurier is the same calibre as their 27-year-old Bury Beckham and would much rather see Trippier starting this summer.
