Paulo Gazzaniga has been one of Tottenham’s heroes this season. The 26-year-old goalkeeper has stepped up from being the club’s third choice stopper to being in line to fight with Hugo Lloris for the number one spot. His efforts have seen him called up to the Argentine national team and he could be set to feature against Mexico as La Albiceleste face them twice in four days.

Gazzaniga has proven this season that he can step up when called upon. The Argentine shot-stopper featured in important wins in the Premier League, Carabao Cup and Champions League and The Lilywhites are yet to lose a game in which their 26-year-old shot-stopper has featured. Now it will be time for Gazzaniga to convert his club form to the international stage as he’ll be keen to impress and make the Argentine #1 shirt his own.
That will be easier said than done for Gazzaniga, though, and whilst he faces tough competition from the likes of Sergio Romero, there’s no reason why he can’t become the number one for both club and country if he puts in some more stellar displays. It’s fair to say that this season has seen Spurs fans a lot calmer ahead of games when they’ve got Gazzaniga in the net as opposed to Lloris, and it could be the same for Argentina.
