Tottenham fans ecstatic for Lloris as ‘keeper gets Ballon d’or nominee

Hugo Lloris may not be the most popular man in North London at the moment, but that hasn’t stopped a lot of Spurs fans from congratulating the Frenchman on his recent nomination for the Ballon d’Or. The Spurs stopper was named on the 30-man shortlist for the award yesterday and Tottenham fans have been congratulating their man on his achievement.

Lloris had a bit of a mare against Barcelona last week, but that doesn’t mean he’s any less of a player than what he is. The Frenchman is a World Cup-winning captain and no one can take that away from the Tottenham man. His exploits for both club and country is duly rewarded with this nomination for football’s most prestigious solo award and whilst he’s unlikely to win it, the nomination is the least he deserves.

Lloris is nominated alongside fellow goalkeepers Alisson Becker and Thibaut Courtois and it’s a good thing to see the trio being given recognition despite the fact they play in a much less favourable position. Now that Lloris has been given this kind of praise and recognition, he’ll be keen to put the current rough patch he’s going through behind him and get back to the form that saw him lift the World Cup over summer and help Tottenham to a 3rd place finish last season.
