Tottenham fans have been used to seeing some of their star players shipped off over the years when some of Europe’s bigger clubs come calling. Gareth Bale and Luka Modric are prime examples of that, with both being shipped off to Real Madrid, however, the fans will be hoping that Toby Alderweireld will be different and these comments from the Belgian have given the fans hope.

Toby Alderweireld has been the best defender in the Premier League since he joined Tottenham back in 2015. The Lilywhites tapped into the Belgian national team and have united Jan Vertonghen and Alderwiereld at the back at club level, with Mousa Dembele sitting in midfield just in front of his international colleagues. The fans have loved watching their number four over the last three years and now they’ll be praying he stays even longer.
Contract issues and injury have marred Alderweireld’s third season at the club and it looked like he would be on the way out of North London, however, anything can happen in football. Over the course of the World Cup the noise surrounding the future of the 29-year-old has died down and now with less than four weeks of the transfer window remaining, Alderweireld will be looking to sort out his future quickly and Spurs fans everywhere will be holding their breath over his decision.
