Tottenham fans on Twitter absolutely adore VAR

Tottenham fans today will be the biggest advocates of VAR going. If it wasn’t for the video assistant referee last night the Lilywhites would be out of the Champions League in the cruellest of fashions. However, the right decisions were made and Manchester City are the side who have bowed out, leaving the Lilywhites jubilant.
90 – Huge moment as Sterling’s late strike is ruled out by VAR!

Mauricio Pochettino deserves all the credit in the world after yesterday, but he wouldn’t have been able to receive the plaudits had the referees not been well on their game and ready to make the tough calls. It was one of the most enjoyable evenings in recent memory in the Champions League, and the VAR only added to the drama as Raheem Sterling had a late winner chalked off for offside.
If that goal would have stood then the papers would have a field day. The words ‘Spursy’ and ‘Bottlers’ would have been printed across the back page of every paper in Britain, even if it would have been completely unjust given the fight and desire that Pochettino’s side showed. That’s a scenario, that thanks to the upgrade in technology, we haven’t had to see, and long may it continue.

The Lilywhites will all be massive fans of VAR after yesterday, and who can blame them given how the final minutes of yesterday’s clash went.
