Tottenham fans will be cursing their luck at the moment. The Lilywhites were in a Premier League title race just 11 days ago, yet losses to Burnley and Chelsea and a draw to Arsenal has hit them hard. The run of form has led to Harry Redknapp claiming on TalkSPORT that he believes his former side have regressed in the last two years.
Harry Redknapp believes Mauricio Pochettino’s team was better two years ago than it is now:
“Tottenham were better two years ago when Kyle Walker was playing right-back and absolutely on fire, Danny Rose was in his pomp absolutely flying and Dembele was top drawer.”#THFC #COYS pic.twitter.com/LTmWKD9stJ

Redknapp has come out and said that he believes that the Tottenham team of the 2016/17 season that had Kyle Walker and Danny Rose both in their pomp flying down the flanks as wing-backs with Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama in the middle was a better side than the one now. Whilst that side may not have fared as well as this one, it is hard to argue with the 72-year-old retired manager.
Redknapp knew what managing Tottenham was all about and he’s been very clear and vocal in his praise for Maurizio Pochettino in the past. This time, though, his comments have brought about a harsh reality as it’s hard to argue with the facts that the Lilywhites looked a lot stronger when they were challenging with Chelsea in the 2016/17 season, even if they may be achieving more with the side they have now.

I don’t think you’ll find a single person, or fan anyway, who disagrees with this.

He’s right that team would have buried Chelsea and Arsenal this week

Bang on. Better team back then yet in same position so shows how good a job poch doing. Imagine if we invested in the team these last few years?????

Can’t argue with that

Agreed. We were better. No doubt.

100% agree. This team is nowhere near the level that team played at. That team bears Burnley, Chelsea and the spastics.

Think he’s right. We have done well so far but squad needs some fresh faces

The Lilywhites all seem to be in agreement with Redknapp and are desperate to see some new faces come in over summer to help them compete for even greater things next season.
