Tottenham fans on Twitter can’t get enough of sublime Llorente

This season has seen Fernando Llorente put down a real marker. In his first season at Tottenham, he failed to really establish himself as the main man when Harry Kane is unavailable, yet his recent run of form in Kane’s absence has been phenomenal and after he scored late against Borussia Dortmund the fans want to see him start at Turf Moor.
“The opportunity was there for me and I had to keep fighting and focus on my work for each and every game.”

The Spaniard may not be the prettiest footballer to watch with his direct style of play and ability to thrive when fed crosses into the box, but he sure is effective. Since Harry Kane was injured against Manchester United Llorente has scored three and assisted three in the seven games that have followed, and that sort of contribution is exactly what the fans have been crying out from their 33-year-old deputy.
Tomorrow will be an interesting day for the Lilywhites. Harry Kane has been back in training this week and will no doubt be chomping at the bit to get back in action for his club, however, Llorente has been in fine form and doesn’t warrant being dropped. The chances are the Spaniard will keep his place and will be replaced by the England captain in the second half, and that’s something the Lilywhites won’t mind.
