Tottenham fans everywhere are going to be ecstatic if their club somehow pulls off the signing of Matthijs De Ligt. The young Dutch centre-back has shown his worth in both the Champions League and internationally and according to Mundo Deportivo, via Spurs-Web, Tottenham have had a 50 million euro bid for him turned down by Ajax.

The 19-year-old Dutch centre-back has been drawing praise from those in the football world for a few years now. Just a couple of weeks ago he showed everyone what he was capable of when he pocketed Robert Lewandowski in the Champions League at the Allianz as Ajax continued their bid to top their Champions League group. It looks like a matter of time until De Ligt is on the move, but it will take at least 75 million euros to take him from Ajax.
In summer 2017 Tottenham successfully took another young centre-back off of Ajax in the form of Davinson Sanchez. Given how successful Sanchez has been at Tottenham since making the move you can see why the fans are desperate to get De Ligt on board. However, with Daniel Levy’s reputation proceeding him and the Lilywhites failing to sign a single player over the summer, the fans have been laughing off rumours that they could be set to prise De Ligt from Ajax in January.
You can read The Lilywhites’ responses to news of their 50 million euro bid here:
Paid £42m for Sanchez so could be plausible, Ajax won’t sell in January anyway

Have lost lot forgotten that you are Spurs fans. January transfer window I see nothing more than a contract extension for Sissoko.

The one time we bid €50m and it’s for a player who’s going to cost €75m.

The fans are far from optimistic over signing De Ligt and won’t be surprised when he ends up at Barcelona for double what they’re offering.
