It’s not very often that a player can move away from their usual position and thrive in the Premier League. However, Ben Davies was being used as a central-defender yesterday, as opposed to his usual left-back role, and he barely put a foot wrong during his side’s 1-0 home win over Burnley.
Who was your @eToro Man of the Match this afternoon?

Mauricio Pochettino will have been no doubt reluctant to use the Welshman in an unfamiliar role but considering he had Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen all unavailable due to a combination of illness and injury, he had no choice but to mix things up. Fortunately, it didn’t vost his side, and the fact that Davies has been used a centre-back in a three for his national team will certainly have helped.
All in all, yesterday’s 1-0 win over Burnley will not go down as a classic for the Tottenham fans who made the trip to Wembley, but it’s yet another huge three points that will be well received by the fans, who still have a slither of belief that they can be included in the title argument alongside the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, especially if they can get more heroic individual performances like they got from Ben Davies yesterday.
You can read the Lilywhites’ calls for Davies to be named man of the match here:
For the debut, Skipp was solid. Also Davies as CB was decent.

The votes are baffling. Yes it was a nice debut and obviously the goal was massive but Davies was by far the best player over the full 90 minutes…

Ben Davies did brilliantly at CB

I thought Davies was incredible today. Especially out of position he did the boys proud, didn't let Burnley get a sniff. The vote doesn't do him justice.

How are Ben and Sissoko bottom here

I think Ben is well done.

Loads of Tottenham fans believe Davies was robbed of the man of the match award, and would much rather have seen their versatile Welshman rewarded for his performance.
