Tottenham fans on Twitter don’t want to go back to supporting Sissoko this season

A large number of Tottenham fans had the sad realisation last night that following England’s World Cup exit they would soon be getting back to club football and supporting Moussa Sissoko. First, the fans have to manoeuvre the transfer window which for the Lilywhites, usually means signing an unheard of French winger.

England fought valiantly against Croatia but eventually, the more streetwise team came out on top and England bowed out of the World Cup 2-1 in Moscow, however, they have one last game to play on Saturday against Belgium in the 3rd place playoff. Now though, the Spurs fans have one eye on their pre-season and the transfer window that goes with it. The club will be hoping to win a trophy this season although it will be tough given the competition.

Pre-season is always a funny one for Tottenham, five of their first-team went away with England this summer and six more of their regular senior squad also travelled to the World Cup, although only Hugo Lloris is left in the competition. Eight of the Spurs boys will be in action on Saturday when Belgium face England in the 3rd place playoff and until a good couple of weeks after that game the club won’t have the full squad available, leaving the fans having to deal with Moussa Sissoko, Serge Aurier and some of their other less-popular squad members.

As you can see, most Spurs fans aren’t excatly looking forward to the return of ‘normal’ football.
