Tottenham Hotspur fans all over the world will be over the moon with the news that Heung-Min Son’s South Korea edged past Iran yesterday in the round of sixteen in the Asian Games, putting the Tottenham man one step closer to a gold medal and an exemption from military service.

The football competition in the Asian Games is fierce. Twenty nations have entered the competition and with the group stages over and four of the round of sixteen ties already completed there are just 12 teams left in the running and four more of those are set to be eliminated today. South Korea have found themselves in the ‘easier’ side of the draw but that’s not to say it will be a walk in the park.
Son’s South Korea came second in their group, setting up a tie against Iran which they won 2-0 yesterday to put themselves in the last eight of the competition. The defending champions are now just three wins away from taking home tournament gold, however, they have to face a stern Uzbekistan in the quarters before a semi-final tie against either Syria or Vietnam before they can start dreaming about the final.
