Tottenham fans on Twitter had so much respect for Andros Townsend after his tweet yesterday

Just a matter of hours after bagging a penalty in a 2-0 win against his former side yesterday, Andros Townsend took to Twitter to defend his actions of not celebrating against the Lilywhites. One fan questioned him for not celebrating his goal, to which the 27-year-old had the perfect response, and put a smile back on Spurs fans’ faces.

The England international with 13 caps to his name made it clear that he didn’t celebrate out of respect for the club that made him even though he failed to lock up 100 appearances for them. His appearance tally is hardly relevant here though, as for the winger, Spurs will always be his home having been there from the age of 8 right through to when he left at 24.

The Lilywhites would love to have more players like Townsend coming through, as the winger is a perfect example of what the Lilywhites are all about. Daring to do on the pitch, and being clearly respectful for the club and what it stands for off of it. It’s fair to say that Townsend will always be welcome back in North London, and it’s hard for any Spurs fan to think negatively of him.

You can read the Lilywhites’ verdict on Townsend here:

The Lilywhites will always look at Townsend as one of their own and would love to have him back at the club in some capacity one day.
