After being a reliable servant to the club for a number of years, Jermaine Jenas is still making Tottenham fans smile with his accurate and honest assessment of his former club. After the loss to Watford on Sunday, Jenas appeared on Match of the Day Two where he critiqued his former club and cited their inability to win when they’re playing poorly as to why they’re yet to win anything.

It’s hard to argue with the 35-year-old’s comments. Against Watford on Sunday the Lilywhites looked flat and devoid of creativity as they fell to a shock defeat at the hands of Javi Gracia’s physical Hornets and despite the fact they took the lead in the game, they were unable to prevent a brave fightback. The international break is now here and Spurs face a tough ask against Liverpool when club football returns.
Jenas always seems to be bang on with these things and the fans believe he’s hit the nail on the head with this one. It’s not that the Lilywhites can’t win they’re not up to their best, it’s more than they can’t win ugly and scrap through the tough games. Watford was a perfect example and Jenas also cited last season’s FA Cup semi-final defeat and the Champions League exit to Juventus as examples.
You can read the fabs’ verdict on Jenas’ comments here:
We can’t win ugly because Poch don’t change anything until it’s too late
Rose and Winks should have come on as soon as Watford drew level but nothing happened until it was too late
It’s one of Pochs biggest flaws

Agree . To get to the next level we need to grind out results when playing poorly, and our defense needs to remain tighter when put under pressure. The game was lost within 10 minutes against Watford. To be successful you can’t afford to lose focus in these situations.

Totally agree that lil 5/10 min spell Watford had an spurs gave it away, we created so many opportunities but was wasteful need to sharpen up an not think its to easy.

We can play poor and win it’s when it gets scrappy we suffer

Absolutely spot on JJ . We did something at OT that we should do more of . If you recall We made a sub took a while , players took drinks , we stopped the flow of the game . We kept UTD off the ball . In those games he mentioned we still lack the DARK ARTS !!

The Lilywhites all seem to agree with Jenas’ thoughts on their club and they’ll be keen to have Mauricio Pochettino address their issues soon.
