Tottenham fans on Twitter were all desperate for a repeat of their Champions League heroics when they faced Manchester City yesterday. Wednesday’s events were beyond the Lilywhites’ wildest imagination, and when Fernando Llorente came off the bench yesterday some fans dared to dream they could get another positive result.
78 – It’s time for Fernando!
— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) 20 April 2019
Fernando Llorente is really good at what he does, the Spaniard is a brilliant target man and when Mauricio Pochettino needs someone to come into the side and make things happen, getting them advanced further up the field by holding the ball, the 2010 World Cup winner is the man they look to. On Wednesday he scored the all-important goal that saw them through to the Champions League’s last four, but he couldn’t do it again yesterday.
When Mauricio Pochettino looked to his bench he had either Vincent Janssen and Llorente to call upon as his third and final substitution, and he was always going to look to the experienced Spaniard. The 34-year-old barely got into the game at all, but when he does get a chance the ex-Juventus, Athletic Bilbao and Swansea man is usually able to make it count, as we’ve seen this season already.

Tottenham fans loved it when Llorente came on yesterday and whilst he couldn’t influence the game, they were still delighted he got some more minutes.
