There’s no doubting that when he’s on his game Mousa Dembele is a top player. The Belgian midfielder is incredibly difficult to dispossess and Lucas Moura has been waxing lyrical over his teammate. However, after a few sloppy performances, the Lilywhites have been questioning whether or not Dembele still has it.

Over the summer the rumours were rife over a Dembele exit. The main reason for those rumours was the fact that he didn’t think he could handle the physicality of the Premier League anymore, especially with the way he plays the game. The Belgian loves having the ball at his feet and he glides past players like they’re not even there when he’s at his best, but recently his passing has been off and he’s been giving away needless free-kicks.
On Monday night against Manchester City, he had a below-par performance which saw him hooked by Mauricio Pochettino after 75 minutes as Dele Alli entered the fray. Tottenham are back in action again tonight, less than 48 hours after their clash on Monday, and given Dembele’s fitness record, it would be a huge shock to see him starting tonight. The fans would likely rather see Harry Winks starting against The Hamers tonight anyway, as they continue to question their Belgian maestro.

Not anymore he's not. Looked an old man last night.

He needs to work on his decision making and his final pass. Bearing down on the Man City goal I was willing him to shoot. But he misplaces his pass. He probably would have skied it.

He is for 30/60 minutes, can’t do a full quality 90 anymore

Wish he would not only be incredible in training.. could use that form for match day

Giving the ball away and constantly giving away needless free kicks

The fans will be hoping Dembele can return to form sooner rather than later and if he fails to do so then he could be off in January.
