Tottenham fans on Twitter want to break transfer duck with Wilmar Barrios

Tottenham fans have been waiting for a very long time to sign a player. The club are record holders having become the first ever team in the Premier League not to sign a player in a summer window. However, according to Argentine radio show El Deportivo Crack, they’ve agreed terms with Boca Juniors’ Wilmar Barrios and are close to finalising a 23 million euro deal with the club for him.

Wilmar Barrios is a name that most English football fans will know owing to the Colombian’s exploits in the World Cup. The young midfielder probably should have been sent off in England’s round-of-sixteen win against Colombia when he threw a headbutt at Jordan Henderson, although the incident wasn’t picked up on by the referee and the officials failed to go to VAR to check the incident.

Despite that, the World Cup is now behind us and it’s clear that Barrios is a talented young lad. Davinson Sanchez will obviously be talking to the midfielder about coming to Tottenham seeing as the pair play together for the national team. Using that link will likely be key to getting this deal over the line and Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to shell out the fee of roughly £20 million to secure the club’s first signing in almost a year.
