Tottenham fans on Twitter were not happy with Dele Alli yesterday - Premier League

Losing at home at some point was always going to be inevitable for Tottenham. Their run of wins at the new stadium without conceding was always going to end and eventually, someone was going to beat them, the Lilywhites will just be gutted it was West Ham. However, it could have been different had Dele Alli stepped up to the plate.

Dele Alli so often has been one of Tottenham’s heroes, but going into yesterday’s clash the England midfielder was yet to score his first goal against West Ham. Then, come the end of the 90 minutes, that record was still intact as the Lilywhites failed to land a glove on West Ham throughout the clash, and Dele Alli was absolutely abysmal, doing nothing to help his side turn the 1-0 deficit around at any point.

Eventually, Alli was hooked after 85 minutes and it was up there as the worst 85 minutes of his Tottenham career. The Lilywhites will be desperate for their impressive midfield man to be back to his best against Ajax on Tuesday, and if he drops another disaster-class as he did against the Hammers then it will be a whole lot harder for Mauricio Pochettino’s side to overcome the Dutch side.

You can read the Lilywhites’ verdict on Dele here:

The Lilywhites are going to be desperate for Alli to star on Tuesday and will just hope he can put in a much more respectable display in that game.
