Heung-Min Son is a man who Tottenham fans wish they’d be seeing a little bit more of this season. The South Korean winger has been in fine form when he’s been available but was always going to miss plenty of matches this season with his national team, which is why the Lilywhites were fuming to see him denied his hat-trick when he was subbed yesterday.
80 – Sonny!

With the score at 6-2 and having seen Son grab two goals and an assist, Pochettino realised that enough was enough and substituted the South Korean when there was just ten minutes left to play, allowing the youngster, Oliver Skipp to get a run out for the final few minutes of their emphatic victory on Merseyside. However, it would have been an even sweeter win had Son grabbed his treble.
Had the Lilywhites’ fan favourite grabbed that elusive third goal yesterday it would have been his 56th in Tottenham colours, and his second hat-trick of what has been a stellar career at the club to date after his first one came against Millwall in a 6-0 home win in the FA Cup back in the 2016/17 season. It might be a while now before Son gets a chance to grab a few goals as the Asian Cup looms, but when he returns he’ll be looking to get straight back in amongst the goals again.

The Lilywhites were gutted to see Pochettino deny Son the chance to get a treble and will just hope the South Korean can grab a treble before the end of the season.
