Tottenham supporters were reasonably buoyant in the Transfer Tavern on Sunday after seeing their side edge past Crystal Palace 1-0 in the Premier League, thus rounding off a memorable week with a much-needed three points.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men may well have lost to Manchester United last weekend, but they responded admirably in midweek by securing a mightily impressive 3-1 victory over European champions Real Madrid at Wembley, thus booking their place in the Champions League knockout stages. And although they weren’t at their best against Palace, they finished the week off with three points as Son Heung-min’s 64th minute strike was enough to seal the victory for the North London outfit.
Thus, several of our resident Spurs supporters were in fine voice after seeing their side go level on points with second place United, and they will hope to build upon their decent week when they return to league action after the forthcoming international break.
In the meantime though, there is plenty going on to interest those hardy Tottenham fans lining up at the bar, not least the recent news that West Ham have sacked manager Slaven Bilic.
The 49-year-old led the Hammers to a seventh place finish in his first campaign at the club back in 2015/16 but was unable to build upon that last term, eventually ending up 11th in what was their debut campaign at the London Stadium.
And given they fell into the bottom three over the weekend after going down 4-1 to Liverpool, the writing was on the wall for the Croat, despite leading the team to a sensational Carabao Cup victory over Spurs less than a fortnight ago.
And Bilic’s departure stimulated quite a response from several Tottenham supporters on Twitter…
Bilic sacked just 2 weeks after West Ham won their cup final. How’s that for loyalty? #COYS
